Trained in a variety of therapeutic approaches
I am trained to deliver a range of therapeutic approaches including person-centred therapy, Gestalt, psychodynamic psychotherapy, Systemic Psychotherapy, CBT and Transactional Analysis. I adhere to the BACP’s Ethical Framework and Professional Conduct Procedure.
My clinical trainings have taken place at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust, Waltham Forest Social Care, Newham Action Against Domestic Violence for child and adult survivors, GMI partnership (Positive East) for the LGBTQ community, Mind for Tower Hamlets and Newham and Croydon Child and Adolescent Service (CAMHS).
As a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist, I have worked at the NSPCC, Off the Record in Croydon, The University of Worcester, The Children’s Society and The Anna Freud Centre.
Aside from maintaining private practice in Moseley, Birmingham, I work on a part-time basis at Schoen Clinic Newbridge. There I deliver Systemic and Family Psychotherapy within an eating disorders context. Alongside this work, I am in the leadership team of the Black and Asian Therapist Network (BAATN), a national body that works to engage therapists, practitioners in health and social care and community with minority-ethnic experiences. I also sit on the Association for Family and Systemic Practice’s (AFT) Diversity Working Party for ‘Race’.
Prior to my counselling and psychotherapy training, I worked extensively for over 13 years as a Practitioner and Manager in a range of statutory and voluntary-sector education, youth, community and child protection agencies. I have a Masters in Critical Theory (sociology, literary and philosophy critique) and qualified as a Community Artist to degree level. I use my learning in both these areas to offer a uniquely challenging and reflective approach to the therapy.
