Group Therapies and Training
I have delivered a wide range of open and closed group therapies and workshops to people affected by psychosocial, emotional and behavioural issues in a range of therapeutic settings. Sessions have been structured and/or experiential in content and have used discussion and creative media to explore themes on anxiety, low mood, trauma, aggression, conflict resolution, sexuality, drugs and alcohol, parenthood and isolation and transcultural life experiences. For programmes delivered within a school-based setting, some of the group therapies have been tailored to support specific school-related issues such as managing exam stress, transition to secondary school, mentoring and bullying.
Training on mental health and clinical practise
I provide bespoke training for professionals on a range of issues specific to the therapeutic context. This has included training on how to integrate CBT into a Humanistic framework, incorporating routine outcome monitoring into clinical practice, working with refugees and interpreters, understanding anxiety and depression, and working with trauma.
Safeguarding training
Depending upon the experience of the trainees and the needs of the organisation, the training can include understanding and recognising signs of need and abuse, knowledge of relevant legislation, and supporting professionals to make effective, timely and ethical referrals whilst maintaining client autonomy.
I have delivered safeguarding training to counsellors and professionals in the voluntary-sector.
Having worked extensively in a range of statutory and voluntary sector settings, my training looks to equip practitioners with the knowledge, skills and confidence to make effective and holistic safeguarding that maintains the voice of the child and their best interests. My experience as a therapist enables me to facilitate a supportive learning atmosphere that can engage with and hold the anxieties that issues of client disclosure and safeguarding can raise amongst practitioners.
